Dr. Gilbert Omido, DDS Dr. Omido was born in Arusha, Tanzania to Kenyan parents, but spent most of his life in Kenya after his parents moved there. Upon graduation from high school, he entered the banking industry. After seven years in banking, Dr. Omido set his sights on becoming a dentist. He immigrated to the United States in 1981 in order to fulfill this dream.
After moving to Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Omido worked his way through Butler Community College and Friends University, supporting himself and his family by working in the construction business. He earned his degree in Chemistry, and worked as a chemist in the oil industry. Finally, he was able to enroll in the University of Oklahoma Dental School to pursue his dream of become a dentist. He graduated in 1996 and has been practicing dentistry ever since.
Dr. Omido is actively involved in his community. He is the past president of the Wichita District Dental Society. He is an avid cyclist, and enjoys golfing and travel. Dr. Omido has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (19,000) feet, but says he is still looking for a “bigger thrill.”
